Djokovic and Tipsarevic once again failed to capitalize on their chances as they lost the first set on a deciding point after blowing four consecutive game points in the eighth game. Kubot and Melo were threatening early on in the second set as well but Djokovic and Tipsarevic saved a break point in the second game to avoid going down by an early break.

However, Kubot and Melo kept pressing as they broke the Serbian duo in the sixth geme and then held on to their serve to clinch the win. Kubot and Melo had a great serving display as they won 93 percent of their first serve points and didn’t face a single break point in the match.

Djokovic, 32, and 35-year-old Tipsarevic were playing together for the first time since making the Montreal Masters semifinal in 2005.
