Marcel Granollers of Spain and Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos have had a dream team debut at the Montreal” masters> as they beat Robin Haase and Wesley Koolhof in the final to win the title. Granollers and Zeballos claimed a straight-set win in a tight final as they edged out the Dutch pair 7-5 7-5.
No breaks of serve were seen in the first set until the 12th game, when Granollers and Zeballos won the game on a deciding point to seal the opener. Granollers and Zeballos earned a win after coming up big when needed most as they once again broke Haase and Koolhof in the 12th game.
Granollers, 33, and 34-year-old Zeballos hit five aces and won 85 percent of their first serve en route to securing the title in an hour and 20 minutes. Also, Granollers and Zeballos converted 2-of-4 of their break point chances and didn’t face a single break point in the match.
Meanwhile, Haase and Koolhof have played together three times this year — and finished runners-up for the third time this season.
