In an interview to Tennis TV, Roger” federer> shared why he has mixed feelings coming to Cincinnati. “It’s strange. I always come here and I never know how it’s gonna go because I feel like it’s playing fast and it’s hard to control the ball.
And then once I get in the roll I usually play a good tournament here. In the beginning, it was great or not great at all. But it has been a solid event for me to play in and also last year it was a great final against Novak.
I love playing here”, admitted Federer, who won seven titles there. “Things are going well, I am happy, the family is good, I had a nice easy party birthday in Switzerland. I am in Cincinnati and I hope to be as good at 38 years of age as I was at 37.
We will see.” On his Wimbledon final loss to Novak Djokovic, Federer added: “You do look back and you appreciate the fight and the battle. You can’t always be a part of a match like this so when they come around you are gonna appreciate them and we had an entertainment at the end of the day as well.
I hope people were entertained and had a good time, and that’s maybe as important as winning or losing sometimes. So that’s what I take out of it. I love playing at Wimbledon, I had a great semis against Rafa and as a family, we had a great time at Wimbledon.
I look back with mixed feelings of course but also with a lot of regrets in some ways that I could not finish it. But time off after Wimbledon was great, I just relaxed and I look forward to the second half of the season.”
